Best Honeymoon ever… PAX 2009

This month we celebrated our honeymoon the normal way… going to a video game convention:) Yes, we went to Penny Arcade Expo!

It is very hard to describe in few words how awesome of a time was had. The highlights were definitely running into Jonathan Coulton multiple times (you may remember him from our I Feel Fantastic music video, on PopSci magazine and featured on Youtube). The concerts were amazing, featuring performances by JoCo himself, Paul and Storm, Metroid Metal, MC Frontalot, and Freezepop.

We shook hands with some of the cast from The Guild, accidentally interrupted Wil Wheaton, and tasted some band-fan-made caramel bacon snacks.

I attended more panels and industry talks than I can remember, but one of the best was definitely Harmonix‘s demonstration of the creation of Rock Band game tracks, including upcoming software allowing individual artists to create their own tracks for the game. I was able to talk to some of the Harmonix team after the panel, and might have some future business with them… We’ll see!

Oh, and we wrapped up the honeymoon with a cruise to Alaska… that was okay, nothing compared to PAX:)

Sporksmith and BlackCatBonifide

I got married to Sporksmith on August 8th! It was lots of hard work for all involved, but in the end it definitely helps when most of your bridal party are stage, music, art, and other suchcrafts people because honestly a wedding is show and everything comes down to scripts, lists, and the audience (your family).

Thank you all who were involved and helped us pull it off, especially the ELPC Chancel Choir who performed during the ceremony!

Two days after the wedding we left the country, (no, not the honeymoon) I tagged along on a business trip to Munich and Stuttgart. Never having left the USA before, the whole experience was very exciting for me. I would like to thank Rosetta Stone for helping crunch as much German language into my brain as could be retained in 2 weeks, it was very beneficial:) All I can say is… wow… if you’re a musician, see Germany at least once before you die.

Video Games Live

Went to the Pittsburgh Symphony (and Mendellsohn Choir)s’ performance of “Video Games Live“. IF the VGL tour ever makes it to your hometown, I strongly recommend grabbing a ticket, as it will blow your mind:

An immersive event created by the game industry featuring the best game music performed by top orchestras and choirs combined with synchronized lighting, video, live action and audience interactivity. The first and most successful video game concert tour in the world.

Origins 2009

Went to my second year of Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH. Had a blast! It was nice seeing so many old friends at the convention, as well as getting to test many new and upcoming games in the expo hall. My favorite was definitely Steve Jackson’s “The Stars are Right”.
