I am very excited to have been invited to do my first international talk ever at a new conference, #OurSonicLandscape in Vancouver! My talk title is a mashup of terms I have heard over the years, “Our Instruments Are Made of Meat – Don’t overcook your Vocalists” in short, #VocalHealth + well planned session = productive and awesome #GameAudio for all;) Thank you, OSL Team, for inviting me!

Here’s the longer version of the pitch I submitted,
“Voice Actors and Vocalists/Singers can add so much to your soundtrack and your game’s narrative… but like physical traditional instruments out there, tubas, drums, pianos, wackadoodle synth pads… their instruments, ie their voices, can get damaged. Throats, vocal cords, lungs, and also sanity, can get burned out, and especially in the case of vocal cords, burn out can be detrimental to a talent’s career. Our ‘instruments’ are ‘made of meat’, and once you fry or burn a steak, it can be hard or impossible to get back to it’s original state. With this talk we will discuss things to keep in mind when preparing to / while working with your voice actors and vocalists, and how best to make recording sessions not only go smoothly, but also safely for your talent.”
