Global Game Jam 2012

Had a great time at my first Global Game Jam this weekend. I had a blast doing audio and music on two games this year, “Creator”, a game where you create music and worlds in space, and “Grim Blaster“, a shooter and puzzle game featuring the Grim Reaper. I’m happy to report that “Creator” tied for 2nd Place Audience Choice Award in Pittsburgh!!! You can play “Creator” and “Grim Blaster” on the Global Game Jam site.

Mechatars

Mechatars is one of the largest projects I have been part of at Schell Games over the past year.  The physical toy is now available in many toy stores around the country and the FREE online game is growing more popular by the second.  I helped design sound fx for many of the weapon and robot animations as well as special music for the home planets of the Mechatars and bonus downloadable content.  If you like battle bots, Pokemon, or just robot animals in general, you’ll love Mechatars!  PS: Jim bought me a Kodar for Christmas:)

I Survived The Final Zombie Opera

Hi internet, it’s been a crazy couple of months. We decided to do the third and final run of Zombie Opera at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater this month, and it went smashingly.  I’m so proud of our cast and crew, and thankful to all our friends, family members, spouses, and significant others who stood by us over three runs, and the last year and a half. (Thank You Letter on our site) Looking back… I can now say I have co-written a full opera, have two audio cds published and in circulation, and had a successful repeat run of a multimedia stage show all before turning 30. Now one of the biggest chunks of my time is opening back up again, and all the other projects and obligations are flooding back in to fill the gap, and one of the most important is finally getting time to spend with my family and husband:)

Big July Update of the arts…

Evenings in Quarantine: The Zombie Opera’s Spring Run was a tremendous success. We are very grateful to all who have been part of our team since the writing process began in 2009, how far we have come! After 2 successful seasons, The Zombie Opera will conclude with its third and final set of performances at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater on October 27- 30. Get your ticket in advance to ensure your seat as the Zombie Opera takes one final bow. Stay tuned to the Zombie Opera website for more information.

Once again I participated in the 48 Hour Film Project with my teammates from EverythingButtheName productions. Our genre this year was ‘Science Fiction’, the resulting film was a 1984esque vision of the future if Facebook ruled the world, entitled “FriendStat”, the trailer currently viewable on Youtube.

Three months in and I am still happily working at Schell Games as their sound designer and resident music composer. I am pleased to say one of our projects, “Race to the Beach”, an interactive game for which I was the sound fx designer and music composer, is now installed at Sea World, San Diego as part of the new Turtle Reef exhibit. Video of the exhibit can be viewed here

I am jumping into my second ‘traditional’ opera this season, the first being “Dido and Aeneas” with the Renaissance City Choir this past April. This August I will be performing with Undercroft Opera in their production of Marriage of Figaro. I am very excited to be singing with the chorus for this production. Please visit their site for more details!
