Schell Games – The Inspire Series

This evening I had the pleasure of being on a panel with fellow Schell Games coworkers for the South Fayette School District’s “The Inspire Series”. We had a great time taking questions about the video game industry from a large and welcoming group of students and parents. We hope you enjoyed our presentation as much as we enjoyed being there:)

CanTEEN “Tour Your Future”

I had the pleasure of being on a panel with five of my fellow women game designers today Schell Games as part of the CanTEEN “Tour Your Future” program: “The program shows girls that they can find a place in science by introducing them to diverse STEM careers, from avian zoologists to accountants, software engineers to surgeons.”

Talking to girls about the game industry

Many thanks to the Ellis School, a private all-girls institution in Pittsburgh, for asking me to be a guest presenter for their 5th and 6th grade classes about what it is like to be a woman working in the gaming industry.  I had a blast visiting, so many great questions were asked and so little time to answer them all:)

“Innercube” soundtrack

Once upon a time Schell Games made a little puzzle game called InnerCube for Chrome/Android/Ouya. Three years later the company now has a Bandcamp page… so…. behold a soundtrack from beyond the grave!!!! Here’s some quick and cheesy techno puzzle tunes I wrote back in 2011 for this nifty little game – Innercube” Original Soundtrack.

Schell Games releases “Jam Week OST”

Flashback!!! We finally put together a soundtrack compilation from Schell Games of music written during our annual ‘Jam Week’ where we drop all our projects for one week every year and cram on new game ideas. Included in this album are highlights from the last couple years of tunes written super fast. My personal favorite of the list is the “Manicorn” themes, written in 2011. I really wanted to mix accordion, bells, and electric guitar:) Music by Mike Traficante (“rainbow kitten”), Heidi McDonald and myself. You can listen to the “Jam Week 2014 OST” on Bandcamp.

Extra Life 2014: Play Games, Heal Kids!

This Saturday, October 25th, I will be playing games for 24 hours straight as part of Extra Life with team Schell Games and we are going to stream the whole thing online! If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, or support our team in our fundraising efforts, check out my personal Extra Life page or our team page for more info!

I may not be very good at ‘traditional’ sports, but this is one marathon I’m more than happy to do for a good cause:)

Update: Many thanks to those who donated! We played, and streamed, game play in our office for 24 hours straight this weekend and successfully raised $1,590 in nonprofit donations. Many of us are super tired (24 hours of games = staying up at least 30 hours straight) but it was totally worth it.

LA is the game audio “hot spot” this week

I will be traveling to Los Angeles today for a packed week of video game conventions, conferences and festivals all happening in the same week! My schedule includes Game Sound Con, Game Audio Institute’s “Intensive Workshop”, the AES (Audio Engineering Society) Convention and a visit to the Indiecade Festival. So much to see, here’s hoping 4 events in 6 days isn’t toooo crazy of an idea:)
