X is now an Ex, Hello to Blue Skies!

Along with my colleagues in the industry, I have said goodbye to Twitter.  I cannot in good conscience continue to post on, direct people to, and fight back against the rise of corruption that has taken over the platform since Elon Musk took ownership. The final straw was yesterday’s privacy policy update which includes previously blocked accounts can now go back to stalking users, and any and all of your past and future posts will be used to train AI and you cannot ‘Opt Out’…

Since Musk bought Twitter, posts steadily began to be flooded with Far Right, Pro-Trump, and Proud Boys propeganda.  This included heightened prejudices and calls for hate crimes against minorities, the LGBTQA+ community, disabled and At Risk individuals, women of all ages, and more. Since the ‘win’ of Donald Trump in the November election, the percentage climbed to new heights.  Twitter (now branded ‘X’) has turned the platform into the latest, and most likely soon to be merged with, Truth Social.

To put it simply, it is no longer a place to find news and catch up on what your colleauges are up to, it is now a place for many of us to check in, ‘Doom Scroll” for hours, and leave feeling attacked and unsafe.

To pound the last nail into the coffin, the privacy policy was updated on November 15th, or ‘anti-privacy policy’, which that includes troubling details such as previously blocked accounts can now go back to stalking users, any and all of your past and future posts will be used and sold to third parties to train AI and are owned by Musk, and so on.  After spending the last couple years doing my part to help protect my fellow artists and voice actors from the rising tide of AI, Synth Voice, and Machine Learning, to hear that almost nine year so my posts about my life and my business would now be used for these processes without an option to opt out… no thank you.

I have joined the mass exodus of my colleagues in Voice Acting and Game Audio to leave the Twitter/X platform behind and instead take up a more permanent residence in Bluesky / Bsky to replace that social media short-form-post spot in our posting lifestyle.  I am still keeping my Twitter account active, as I do not want someone else to claim my username, and post God-knows-what, to keep my DMs active, and to have a placeholder to redirect people to my existing website and social media accounts.

If you in the same state of mine, and looking for ways to delete allllllll of your past Twitter/X posts, but deleting them one by one is a Herculian task, I recommend this Reddit post that allows you to remove them all in one fell swoop. https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitter/comments/16x8obf/tutorial_how_to_delete_all_your_tweets_for_free/
